第22回世界テコンドー選手権大会の特集記事番外編として、大会に参加した海外の師範・コーチへのインタビューをご紹介します。
第12回目は中国Yang YuBo6段のインタビュー記事です。
大会の感想や中国でのテコンドーについてお伺いしました。

世界大会について
Yang YuBo6段、インタビューにご協力くださりありがとうございます。
早速ですが、今回の世界選手権全体の感想をお聞かせください。
カザフスタン・アスタナで開催された今回の世界選手権は、3年間の新型コロナウイルス感染症によるロックダウンの後、世界中のテコンドーファミリーが集まる初の大会となりました。
大会は大成功で、世界中のテコンドー愛好家と再会を果たすことができました。
続いて、今回の世界大会で最も印象に残っていることをお聞かせください。
最も印象に残っているのは朝鮮の選手達がコロナによるパンデミックの後、初めて国際大会に出場したことです。
彼らのレベルは非常に高くとても参考になりました。
そのほか、ギリシャ、ロシア、日本、カザフスタンなどの選手たちの素晴らしいパフォーマンスも賞賛に値します。
今大会に参加した日本選手団の印象をお聞かせください。
日本チームの技術レベルは本当に素晴らしかったです！
それぞれの選手が独自のスタイルや特徴を持っていて、チームの雰囲気もとても良かったです！

日本選手団へのメッセージをお願いします。
中国の有名な諺を使って日本選手団と練習生を祝福したいと思います。
「宝剑锋从磨砺出，梅花香自苦寒来（宝の剣は磨けば磨くほど鋭くなり、梅の花は寒いときこそ美しく香る）」 その意味は、人々は成功を達成するために大変な努力をする必要があるということです。
中国でのテコンドーについて
中国ではテコンドーはどれくらい人気がありますか？
テコンドーは中国で非常に人気があり、非常に多くのテコンドー練習者がいます。
このうち、WTオリンピックテコンドーが大部分を占めていますが、ITFテコンドーは国のスポーツ部門に公認されており、今後もITF修練生は増えると思います。
中国ではどの世代でテコンドーが盛んですか？
現在、中国ではテコンドーの練習者は幼稚園児や小学生が多く、残念ながら中学生まで続けられる人は少ないです。
中国について
中国の観光地や食事について教えてください。
ご存知のように、中国は非常に広く、面積は960万平方キロメートルを超えます。
そこには、紫禁城、万里の長城、北京の天安門広場、西安の兵馬俑、敦煌の莫高窟、四川省の楽山大仏景勝地など、世界的に有名な観光名所がいくつかあります。新疆と西蔵の美しい風景もおすすめです。
ちなみに、2024年1月末には古都の名門瀋陽で国際招待大会を開催します。

Please tell us about your impressions of the World Championships in general.
This World Championships in Astana,Kazakhstan is the first major gathering of Taekwon-Do families worldwide after three years of COVID-19 lockdown. It was a great success and once again brought together Taekwon-Do people from all over the world.
Please tell us what left the biggest impression on you at this world tournament.
The most impressive thing about this competition for me was that the North Korean Taekwon-Do competitors went abroad for the first time to participate in the international competition after the COVID-19 lockdown, and their technical level was very high! The outstanding performances of athletes from Greece, Russia, Japan, Kazakhstan and other countries are also worthy of praise!
Please tell us your impressions of the Japanese team.
The technical level of the Japanese team is excellent! They have their own unique style and characteristics, and their team atmosphere is very good! Worth learning from all countries.
Which generation of people in your country practices Taekwondo the most?
At present, in China, many practitioners of Taekwon-Do are kindergarten children or elementary school students, and very few can persist until middle school students.
How popular is Taekwondo as a martial art in your country?
Taekwondo is very popular in China, with so many Taekwondo practitioners. Among them, WT Olympic Taekwondo accounts for the majority, while ITF Taekwon-Do has been recognized by the national government’s sports department, and there will be more ITF practitioners in the future.
Please tell us about your country’s tourist attractions and recommended foods.
You know China is very big, with an area of more than 9.6 million square kilometers. There are some very famous world tourist attractions here, such as the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square in Beijing, the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xi’an, the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area in Sichuan, and the beautiful scenery of Xinjiang and Xizang. By the way, at the end of January 2024, we will hold an international invitation competition in the famous ancient capital of Shenyang. We hope that everyone can come and experience Chinese cuisine and scenery.
Please give a message to the Japanese national taekwondo team and Japanese taekwondo trainees.
Finally, I would like to use a famous Chinese proverb to bless the Japanese Taekwondo team and trainees. “宝剑锋从磨砺出，梅花香自苦寒来” Its meaning is that people need to go through hard work to achieve success.
